A church-planting team in "Harunistan" has had success in helping to build up Christ's kingdom. Their business vehicle - which gave them a reason to stay in the gospel-hostile country -- has bourn little fruit, however. The business structure had created little profit so the team has had difficulty getting their business license renewed with state authorities.
Access Partners is now helping the team grow their operations with a view to expanding into other cities. Specifically, the company will be exporting products from Harunistan to the U.S. This additional business activity will be beneficial to the team's presence in Harunistan, generating much valued inflows of American dollars into the Harunistani economy.
The project is also providing a good opportunity to see the impact of U.S.-based partnerships, says Jonathan Chan.
"We've seen the potential for wholesale relationships developing through contacts at Covenant Life Church," says Chan. "It shows how individuals here can play an important role in supporting the work overseas," he says.
Another opportunity is through a Christian college's Business Club, which is interested in adopting the business as a pet project. "It's a great chance to integrate college students into this ministry," says Chan, and helps to overcome a common misperception that ministry and business can't mix.
"Hopefully, this opens up a realm of opportunities to use business as a way to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth," says Chan.
In addition to these partnerships, there's already preliminary good news: the business has been able to establish a test order. If the order goes well, it would provide the momentum for a series of contracts worth several hundred thousand dollars.
As always, your prayers would be greatly appreciated and help us to bear fruit that would glorify God. Please pray for wisdom for the team as they seek to integrate their business and ministry, and for fruitfulness in their relationships spreading the gospel. Please pray that our advice would glorify Christ, and that Access Partners would see good relationships with our stateside partners continue to develop.
May Christ continue to bless you all in Him!
